The good news, the person who greenlit the new NBC anthology romantic comedy series has long since been fired and a new regime is in place. The bad news, I still had to sit through one of the worst hours of television that I will never get back.

LOVE BITES has an unfortunate name, because it’s easy to sum up the show in one easy work. It bites. And it bites hard.

The idea of a romantic anthology isn’t a new one (LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE anyone), but the problem is, this kind of show just doesn’t cut it on network television anymore. It feels like a neutered romantic indie film searching for some kind of heart and soul. The dialogue is TV-friendly cute and the scenarios are unbelievable and rather anti-climactic (someone makes a joke that Anna Paquin made being bi-sexual not interesting anymore – BAD!)

Trying to quell the fear that audiences will not a follow a weekly show without recurring characters, LOVE BITES strings together three different stories loosely anchored by married couple Colleen and Judd Rouscher (Constance Zimmer and Greg Grunberg).

The three stories in his series premiere are pretty lame. The first one follows a woman who feels her pregnant friend gets all the men because she has a great story – she’s a surrogate to her sister’s baby. In order to beat that story, she claims she’s a virgin to a guy she likes at a bar, and then finds out lying is not a good thing.

That’s the story. Really. That’s it. Oh, and there’s someBATTLESTAR GALACTICA references, because, well, LOVE BITESis produced by NBC and NBC owns BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

The second story finds a guy getting fired from his job and then feels inadequate because his fiancée has orgasms with her super-powered vibrator and not with him.

I’m not lying, seriously, that’s the story. The pay-off, well, after the hour was over, I didn’t really see a point to that story. It was a loose idea, and nothing more. No story. No real resolution. Just someone thinking, “hey, wouldn’t it be funny if a woman could only have orgasms with a vibrator.” Unfortunately, no one had the heart to tell creator and writer Cindy Chupack that you need more to hang an anthology story on.

The final story follows Judd on a bachelor party fishing trip with guest star Craig Robinson (of THE OFFICE). They have to fly overnight, and on the plane is Jennifer Love Hewitt, playing, well Jennifer Love Hewitt. Judd has such a great relationship with his wife, they have a “do it” list with celebrities. If they ever get a chance to bed that celebrity, they get to do it. Jennifer Love Hewitt is at the top of the list. So Judd and Jennifer (unrealistically, mind you) connect on the flight, he tells her his story and she wants to do it with him in the airplane bathroom. The reality though – the bathroom in an airplane is a horrible place to have sex, and well, Judd loves his wife and can’t go through it.

Kira-Kira 15 hari yang lalu, seorang hamba Allah (si A),telah pun kembali ke rahmatullah secara mengejut (kerana sakit jantung).Allahyarham adalah merupakan seorang yang amat dihormati dan disegani di kampung beliau.

Semasa jenazah Allahyarham diletakkan di ruangtamu rumahnya sementara menunggu untuk diuruskan oleh saudara mara dan sahabat handai, isteri Allahyarham tidak berhenti-henti meratapi jenazahnya sambil merungut-rungut.
Si penulis (penulis asal cerita ini) yang kebetulan anak saudara Allahyarham, ada di sebelah balu Allahyarham pada ketika itu.Beliau merasa amat hairan dengan sikap balu arwah itu. Si balu sepatutnya membaca ayat-ayat suci al-Quran untuk dihadiahkan kepada arwah.Kira-kira 10 minit kemudian, kakak ipar arwah (kakak balunya)pun sampai.

Beliau turut merasa hairan dengan sikap adiknya yang meratapi dan merungut itu, lantas beliau melarang adiknya berbuat demikian sambil bertanya akan sebabnya.

Penulis yang masih berada disitu merasa amat terkejut apabila mendengar jawapan yang diberikan oleh balu Allahyarham itu.

Antara jawapannya ialah:
Suaminya tidak membuat surat wasiat (yang sebenarnya ada).Tanah pusaka milik suaminya tidak sempat ditukarkan ke nama beliau dan anak-anaknya. Suaminya tidak sempat memindahkan saham syarikat suaminya bersama-sama adik-adiknya kepada beliau (Allahyarham memegang saham sebanyak 50% dan 5 orang adik-adiknya memegang 10% setiap seorang).

Untuk makluman, arwah adalah seorang yang agak berjaya dalam perniagaannya.
Syarikat yang diuruskan oleh arwah sangat maju dewasa ini.Di samping itu, arwah memiliki kira-kira 12 ekar tanah dipinggir Putrajaya dan kira-kira 50 ekar di sekitar kawasan Sepang/Dengkil.

Setelah seminggu arwah dikebumikan, peguam arwah memanggil waris-warisnya untuk dibacakan surat wasiat arwah. Penulis juga turut dipanggil tanpa mengetahui akan sebabnya. Allahyarham mempunyai 4 orang anak, yang sulong masih lagi bersekolah di tingkatan 4 manakala yang bongsunya berusia 6 tahun.

Antara kandungan surat wasiat Allahyarham ialah: 30% syer perniagaannya diserahkan kepada anak saudara perempuannya yang juga ahli perniagaan,dan 20% lagi diagihkan sama rata kepada anak-anaknya dengan anak saudara perempuannya sebagai pemegang amanah.

Tanah pusakanya seluas 10 ekar di pinggir Putrajaya dibahagikan sama rata kepada anak-anak perempuannya (2 orang) dan 2 ekar untuk anak saudara lelakinya yang juga pemegang amanah untuk anak-anak perempuannya.

Anak-anak lelakinya yang berumur 14 dan 10 tahun, diberikan tanah 15 ekar seorang dengan saudara lelakinya sebagai pemegang amanah.Saham-sahamnya diserahkan kepada anak-anaknya dan dibahagikan mengikut hukum syarak, dan diuruskan oleh saudara perempuannya yang diberi 20%.

Wang tunainya di bank (persendirian diamanahkan kepada kakaknya untuk menampung pembiayaan anak-anaknya jika isterinya tidak berkahwin lagi.

Jika isterinya berkahwin lagi, beliau meminta peguamnya meminta mahkamah memberikan hak penjagaan anak-anaknya kepada kakaknya. Rumah dan tapak rumahnya diwakafkan untuk anak-anak yatim Islam dan sebuah surau,dan hendaklah diserahkan kepada Majlis Agama Islam.

Harta-hartanya yang lain iaitu 2 buah kereta diberikan kepada adik lelakinya yang ketiga dan kelima; manakala baki tanah 20 ekar dibahagikan sama rata kepada adik-adik dan kakaknya.

Setelah selesai wasiat tersebut dibaca, isterinya membantah keras kerana tiada satu pun harta yang diserahkan kepadanya melainkan sebuah proton saga yang tidak dimasukkan dalam wasiat tersebut (yang memang digunakan oleh isterinya).

Belum sempat isterinya terus membantah, peguam Allahyarham membacakan satu kenyataan mengenai isterinya yang terkandung dalam wasiat itu.
‘Isteriku tidak akan kuberikan apa-apa kecuali pengampunan. Terlalu banyak dosanya kepadaku. Maka pengampunan adalah hadiah yang paling berharga.’
‘Tidak pernah aku merasa masakannya sejak mula berkahwin walaupun pernah aku suarakan. Tiada belas kasihan terhadap aku, baik semasa sakit apatah lagi jika aku sihat.’
‘Herdik dan tengking kepada aku dan anak-anak adalah lumrah.. Keluar rumah tidak pernah meminta kebenaran daripada aku. Makan dan minum anak-anak adalah tanggungjawab bibik (pembantu rumah).K ain bajuku tidak pernah diuruskan, dan yang paling menyedihkan, tiada mahunya dia mendengar pandangan dan nasihatku untuk kesejahteraan rumahtangga.’

‘Kebahagiaan aku selama ini hanya dengan amalanku,tugas seharianku,anak- anakku dan adik-beradikku, terutama kakakku (yang sebagai pengganti ibu).’

Selepas peguam Allahyarham membacakan kenyataan itu,barulah penulis faham mengapa balu Allahyarham begitu meratap dan merungut semasa berada disisi jenazahnya. Marilah kita renungi bersama.Semoga dengan apa yang terjadi di atas,akan memberikan satu pengajaran yang berguna kepada kita sebagai umat Islam

Sebuah kisah untuk dijadikan iktibar dan pengajaran……

Abah, bagi balik tangan Ita………

Sepasang suami isteri, seperti pasangan lain di kota-kota besar meninggalkan anak-anak diasuh pembantu rumah semasa keluar bekerja. Anak tunggal pasangan ini, perempuan berusia tiga setengah tahun. Bersendirian di rumah dia kerap dibiarkan pembantunya yang sibuk bekerja bermain di luar, tetapi pintu pagar tetap dikunci. Bermainlah dia sama ada berbuai-buai di atas buaian yang dibeli bapanya, ataupun memetik bunga raya, bunga kertas dan lain-lain di laman rumahnya. Suatu hari dia terjumpa sebatang paku karat. Dia pun melakar simen tempat letak kereta ayahnya tetapi kerana diperbuat daripada marmar, lakaran tidak kelihatan. Dicubanya pada kereta baru ayahnya. Ya… kerana kereta itu bewarna gelap, lakarannya jelas.

Apa lagi kanak-kanak ini pun melakarlah melahirkan kreativitinya. Hari itu bapa dan ibunya bermotosikal ke tempat kerja kerana laluannya sesak sempena perayaan Thaipusam. Penuh sebelah kanan dia beredar ke sebelah kiri kereta. Dilakarnya gambar ibu dan ayahnya, gambarnya sendiri, lukisan ayam, kucing dan sebagainya mengikut imaginasinya. Kejadian itu langsung tak disedari si pembantu rumah.

Pulang petang itu, terkejut badaklah pasangan itu melihat kereta yang baru setahun dibeli dengan bayaran ansuran, berbatik-batik. Si bapa yang belum pun masuk ke rumah terus menjerit, “Siapa punya kerja ni?” Pembantu rumah yang tersentak dengan jeritan itu berlari keluar. Dia juga beristighfar. Mukanya merah padam ketakutan tambah-tambah melihat wajah bengis tuannya. Sekali lagi diajukan pertanyaan keras kepadanya, dia terus mengatakan “Tak tahu… !” “Duduk di rumah sepanjang hari tak tahu, apa kau buat?” herdik si isteri lagi. Si anak yang mendengar suara ayahnya, tiba-tiba berlari keluar dari bilik. Dengan penuh manja dia berkata “Ita buat ayahhh.. cantik kan ?!” katanya menerkam ayahnya ingin bermanja seperti selalu.

Si ayah yang hilang sabar merentap ranting kecil pokok bunga raya di depannya, terus dipukul bertalu-talu tapak tangan anaknya. Si anak yang tak mengerti apa-apa terlolong-lolong dan menangis kesakitan sekaligus ketakutan. Puas memukul tapak tangan, si ayah memukul pula belakang tangan anaknya. Si ibu cuma mendiamkan diri, mungkin setuju dan berasa puas dengan hukuman yang dikenakan. Pembantu rumah melopong, tak tahu nak buat apa-apa. Si bapa cukup rakus memukul-mukul tangan kanan dan kemudian tangan kiri anaknya. Selepas si bapa masuk ke rumah dituruti si ibu, pembantu rumah menggendong anak kecil itu, membawanya ke bilik.

Dilihatnya tapak tangan dan belakang tangan si anak kecil calar balar. Pembantu rumah memandikan anak kecil itu. Sambil menyiram air sambil dia menangis. Anak kecil itu pula terjerit-jerit menahan kepedihan sebaik calar-balar itu terkena air. Si pembantu rumah kemudian menidurkan anak kecil itu. Si bapa sengaja membiarkan anak itu tidur bersama pembantu rumah.

Keesokkan harinya, kedua-dua belah tangan si anak bengkak. Pembantu rumah mengadu. “Sapukan minyak gamat tu!” balas tuannya, bapa si anak. Pulang dari kerja, dia tidak melayan anak kecil itu yang menghabiskan masa di bilik pembantu. Si bapa konon mahu mengajar anaknya. Tiga hari berlalu, si ayah langsung tidak menjenguk anaknya sementara si ibu juga begitu tetapi setiap hari bertanya kepada pembantu rumah.
“Ita demam… ” jawap pembantunya ringkas.
“Bagi minum panadol tu,” balas si ibu. Sebelum si ibu masuk bilik tidur dia menjenguk bilik pembantunya. Apabila dilihat anaknya Ita dalam pelukan pembantu rumah, dia menutup semula pintu. Masuk hari keempat, pembantu rumah memberitahu tuannya bahawa suhu badan Ita terlalu panas. “Petang nanti kita bawa ke klinik. Pukul 5.00 siap” kata majikannya itu.

Sampai waktunya si anak yang longlai dibawa ke klinik. Doktor mengarahnya ia dirujuk ke hospital kerana keadaannya serius. Setelah seminggu di wad pediatrik doktor memanggil bapa dan ibu kanak-kanak itu. “Tiada pilihan..” katanya yang mencadangkan agar kedua-dua tangan kanak-kanak itu dipotong kerana gangren yang terjadi sedah terlalu teruk.

“Ia sudah bernanah, demi nyawanya kedua-dua tangannya perlu dipotong dari siku ke bawah” kata doktor. Si bapa dan ibu bagaikan terkena halilintar mendengar kata-kata itu. Terasa diri tunggang terbalik, tapi apalah dapat dikatakan. Si ibu meraung merangkul si anak. Dengan berat hati dan lelehan air mata isterinya, si bapa terketar-ketar madandatangani surat kebenaran pembedahan selepas diberi penerangan terperinci tentang keadaan sebenar anaknya. Keluar dari bilik pembedahan, selepas ubat bius yang dikenakan habis, si anak menangis kesakitan. Dia juga terpinga-pinga melihat kedua-dua tangannya berbalut putih. Direnung muka ayah dan ibunya. Kemudian ke wajah pembantu rumah. Dia mengerutkan dahi melihat mereka semua menangis.Dalam seksaan menahan sakit, si anak yang keletah bersuara dalam linangan air mata.
“Abah.. Mama… Ita tak buat lagi. Ita tak mau ayah pukul. Ita tak mau
jahat. Ita sayang abah.. sayang mama.” katanya berulang kali membuatkan si ibu gagal menahan rasa.
“Ita juga sayang Kak Narti..” katanya memandang wajah pembantu rumah, sekaligus membuatkan gadis dari Surabaya itu meraung seperti histeria.
“Abah.. bagilah balik tangan Ita. Buat apa ambil.. Ita janji tak buat lagi! Ita nak makan macam mana? Nak main macam mana? Ita janji tak conteng kereta lagi,” katanya bertalu-talu.
Bagaikan gugur jantung si ibu mendengar kata-kata anaknya. Meraung dia sekuat hati namun takdir yang sudah terjadi, tiada manusia dapat menahannya.

Kisah bermula dengan kenakalan Kasyah, seorang pelajar kolej yang sering membuli dan mengenakan pelajar lain, bersama beberapa rakannya. Sikap dan kenakalan Kasyah berubah dengan kehadiran pelajar baru, Ayu, yang menambat hati pemuda terbabit.

Hubungan Kasyah dan Ayu bertambah erat dengan bibit percintaan mulai bercambah. Pada semester akhir, Kasyah ke kawasan pedalaman bagi menjalankan kajian untuk tugasannya. Mereka tidak berhubungan dengan harapan Kasyah dapat menumpukan perhatian pada kajiannya.

Ketika pemergian Kasyah, bekas kekasih Ayu, Azmi, muncul menagih cinta. Azmi menggunakan kedudukan dan kemewahan keluarga bagi mempengaruhi ibu Ayu, Mak Leha, agar memujuk gadis itu berkahwin dengannya. Berpura-pura sakit tenat, ibu Ayu berjaya meminta anaknya berkahwin dengan Azmi, meskipun hatinya mencintai Kasyah.

Sebaik saja pulang ke kampus, Kasyah yang tidak mengetahui perkahwinan Ayu dan Azmi, terkejut dengan berita yang diterimanya itu.

Masa berlalu, rumah tangga Ayu dan Azmi berantakan lantaran sikap Azmi yang panas baran dan pemabuk. Ayu sering dipukul. Suatu malam, akibat tidak tahan dipukul Azmi, Ayu bertindak melarikan diri dari rumah dengan memandu kereta. Ayu hilang kawalan lalu terbabit dalam kemalangan. Ayu cedera parah dan dibawa ke hospital. Mukanya hancur dan terpaksa melakukan pembedahan plastik. Wajahnya berubah, tetapi dia pulih semula. Seterusnya Ayu menuntut perceraian.

Bersama wajah berbeza dan dengan trauma kehidupan lampau, Ayu kini bertekad untuk memulakan hidup baru. Bersama wajah barunya dan dengan pampasan perceraian, dia membuka syarikat perniagaan serta menampilkan diri sebagai Emilia. Menerusi Suzana, kawan rapatnya ketika di universiti, Kasyah diambil bekerja.

Kasyah yang mulanya tidak perasan kehadiran Ayu dalam diri Emilia, mulai berasakan sesuatu kerana persamaan yang dimiliki antara dua wanita itu. Emilia mendapati Kasyah masih setia menyintai Ayu. Keadaan itu menambah deritanya apabila Kasyah tidak menerima Emilia dalam hatinya.

Pada awalnya sebuah tamadun, bangsa,negara, kumpulan atau 'Groups' bermula dengan sifar atau dalam keadaan tak ada apa satu. Kemudian mereka belajar untuk survive. Mereka akan saling membantu, tolong-menolong. Semua ini dilakukan untuk memenuhi keperluan asas, tak kiralah samada dari segi keperluan fizikal atau keperluan rohani.

Mereka akan saling menyayangi, hormat menghormati. Segala masalah diselesaikan dengan terus-terang dan terbuka, tak ada sindir-menyindir, perli-memperli. Segalanya aman damai tanpa sebarang puaka dan raksasa.

Kemudian mereka ke zaman kemuncak iaitu zaman kehendak, apabila segala keperluan asas sudah dipenuhi maka datang pula keinginan. Keinginan ini adalah supaya segala aktiviti untuk mencari keperluan asas ini menjadi lebih mudah.

Pada zaman keinginan inilah datangnya para sufi dan auliya dengan tujuan untuk mengawal agar keinginan tadi tidak dikawal oleh nafsu. Setelah segala keinginan terpenuhi, maka tiba pula satu zaman dimana mereka mencari hiburan. Apabila datangnya hiburan, datanglah pula nafsu. Apabila nafsu sudah beraja, wadah ilmu yang digembar-gemburkan hilang entah kemana. Asyik cerita lagu, bowling, lepak, berkhemah, perjumpaan, percintaan putus ditengah jalan, akedemi yang menganjurkan pertandingan lagu-lagu tak adil. Yang sunah diperlekehkan hingga punah. Orang yang berjihad dikatakan jahat,lalu kena minat pejuang agama dan tanah air itu.

Bini nak pakai tudung, pakai. Tak mau pakai tak apa. Agama hak masing-masing. Ingat Islam tu kau yang cipta, suka-suka buat, tak suka tak payah buat. Ingat kat sana nanti tak ditanya, bagaimana pimpinan dibawahmu engkau jaga. Masa tu kawan, bini yang lawa tu pun nak lepas diri ajer tau. "Laki aku tak suruh pun". Hello brader, masa tu api neraka menulang-julang depan mata, nak ke tanggung bini punya dosa.

Kemudian wujud pula zaman persaingan yang haloba. Masing-masing mahu menunjukkan ego,angkuh dan bangga. Sejarah dimana mereka ingin survival bersama-sama sudah bertukar menjadi 'survival of the fittest'. Masing-masing ingin menjatuhkan masing-masing. Ketika inilah munculnya segala raksasa, puaka dan geruda. Sindir-menyindir, perli, caci mencaci, tohmah sampai ke kaum keluarga mula merebak dengan pantasnya.

Ketika inilah keadaan sudah retak menanti belah. Para sufi tidak takan tertahan dalam keadaan begini. Mereka akan segera berlalu pergi. Tujuan mereka bukan untuk berdebat atau berlawan dengan raksasa bermata hijau. Tujuan mereka adalah untuk berkongsi rahsia cinta dari Kekasih yang sejati.

Namun ada menyatakan kasihan sang sufi itu. Dia sudah berlalu pergi. Patutnya kasihan diri sendiri. Dia tetap sufi walau dimana sahaja, sekalipun dia dihina tidak akan mengurangkan darjatnya. Sekalipun dia dipuji, sedikit pun tidak menaikkan darjatnya. Sudah menjadi tertib sebuah kemusnahan, tak kiralah bangsa atau negara. Segala kemusnahan bermula dengan kehilangan para sufi, wali dan ulama serta guru-guru.

Kerana Allah tak mahu mereka ini turut musnah bersama dengan orang yang lalai, maka mereka dibawa pergi terlebih dahulu. jadi berhati-hatilah, bila sufi sudah berlalu pergi, bila guru sudah diangkat kembali, waktu kemusnahan pasti tidak lama lagi. tak kiralah dalam negara ke, dalam kampung ke, dalam groups ke. Bila penyebar tauhid sudah tiada maknanya kemusnahan bakal menjelma. Sama juga kiamat tidak akan terjadi selagi tauhid masih wujud.

Bila berlalunya para penyebar ilmu tauhid, bila berlalunya ilmu sufi dihati masing-masing. Maka datanglah penyakit yang penuh keluh kesah tanpa diketahui puncanya. Segala benda remeh-temeh pun boleh buat gila. Duit tak ada disalahkan ekonomi. Negara hiruk-pikuk disalahkan pemimpin. Dalam rumahtangga isteri marahkan suami, laki pukul bini. anak haru-biru. Awek cabut lari pun boleh jadi gila ( macam pompuan dalam dunia ni dah habis). Segala penyakit yang tak disangka-sangka mula muncul. Duit masuk beribu-ribu sebulan, tapi dok tak cukup jugak. Makanan berlambak-lambak, tapi tak kenyang-kenyang jugak. Tilam punyalah empuk, tapi tidur tak jugak lena.

Ku lihat sufi itu bukanlah raja
namun dia dihormati disepanjang masa
ku lihat sufi itu bukanlah hartawan
namun hartanya melimpah ruah
kulihat sufi itu bukanlah Dr. Phd
namun dia bagaikan mengetahui segalanya
lalu kutanya apa rahsianya
jawabnya,"Aku mengetahui tentang Allah dan
Allah mengetahui segala-galanya
Ku lihat sufi itu seperti aku juga
yang sentiasa diuji dengan masalah
namun raut wajahnya tak pernah ada resah
kutanya lagi apa rahsianya
lalu jawabnya "hidup ini sementara,
bagaikan mimpi, ibarat embun pagi akan hilang bila terbitnya mentari"
akhirat jua kekal selamanya.
